Aligners (Clear Aligners)

Aligner teeth are transparent orthodontic devices used to straighten teeth. They were developed as an alternative to traditional bracket systems. This provides them with both functional and aesthetic advantages. Aligners are individually made from plastic material and fully conform to the patient's teeth. During treatment, the patient receives a set of aligner teeth in several stages. These aligners are replaced in a specific sequence. One of the most well-known aligner systems, FAS Forestadent (Germany), must be applied only by orthodontic specialists. Since general dentists do not undergo the additional specialization that orthodontists do, the results may be less effective.

Prices of Aligner Teeth (Clear Braces)

The price of clear aligners or aligner trays varies depending on several factors:

  • The brand of the aligner system used (e.g., FAS, Invisalign, ClearCorrect, Spark, etc.)

  • The duration and complexity of the treatment

  • The technological capabilities of the selected clinic and the orthodontist’s experience

In Azerbaijan, the cost of aligners typically starts from approximately 1500 AZN and can go up to 5000 AZN. At RealDent Clinic, both international aligner systems and the exclusive ReaLigner system, developed based on the long-term experience of our professional orthodontists, are offered.

If you are looking to receive orthodontic treatment with clear aligners in Baku, you can contact RealDent Clinic.

How is aligner treatment prescribed?

Aligner treatment begins with a detailed examination of the patient’s oral cavity. The treatment process includes the following stages:

X-ray, photos, and scanning – A 3D digital model of the teeth is created.

Orthodontic plan – The direction in which the teeth will move is determined. At RealDent Clinic, modern equipment such as the Formlabs Form 2 (USA-made) 3D printer and the TRACK® Pci (Germany-made) thermoforming machine is used. Thanks to these technological capabilities, aligners are produced in-house without the need for external labs. As a result, the treatment process becomes both faster and more precise.

Treatment plan – Based on the prepared orthodontic plan, adjustments are made if necessary. After final approval, the exact number and sequence of aligners are determined.

Aligner production – Aligner models are prepared and the production process is carried out according to the approved plan.

The difference between aligner teeth treatment and braces.

The main differences between aligners and braces:

In terms of appearance, aligners are transparent and nearly invisible from the outside. Traditional braces, on the other hand, are noticeable due to their metal wires.

In terms of comfort, aligners are removable, which means they do not cause discomfort during eating or brushing. Traditional braces are fixed to the teeth and cannot be removed, which may cause discomfort in some cases.

When it comes to hygiene, aligners are easy to clean. Braces tend to trap more food particles in the mouth, making them harder to maintain.

Regarding treatment duration, in some cases, treatment with aligners can be shorter than with traditional braces. However, this depends on the severity of the patient’s condition and how well they comply with the treatment.

Wearing clear aligners feels more comfortable for the patient. However, the effectiveness of aligners depends on wearing them correctly and consistently. They must be worn for approximately 20–22 hours a day and should only be removed during meals and brushing. Otherwise, the new aligner may not fit properly in the mouth.

Which device is used to produce aligners?

Aligners are produced using the latest technologies, particularly devices such as intraoral scanners, 3D dental printers, and thermoforming machines. At RealDent Clinic, the German-made Sirona intraoral scanner, the Formlabs Form 2 3D printer from the USA, and the TRACK® Pci thermoforming device by the German brand Forestadent are all used. These modern technologies ensure both the precision and quality of the aligners.

  • Teeth are measured more accurately

  • Trays are produced more quickly

  • Results are more precise and effective

Thanks to these technologies, aligner treatment is carried out both quickly and with high accuracy.

Duration of aligner treatment and at what age it can be worn

According to the schedule prescribed by your orthodontist, clear aligners should be changed over time. In most cases, it is recommended to switch to a new aligner every 1–2 weeks. Before and after wearing each new tray, the teeth must be thoroughly brushed. It is important to avoid habits such as nail biting or chewing on pens, as these can deform the aligners and negatively affect the overall treatment process.

Clear aligner treatment typically lasts between 6 and 18 months. The duration depends on:

  • The severity of the dental misalignment and the specific condition

  • The patient's age and bone elasticity

  • The correct and consistent use of aligners

Aligners are generally intended for individuals over the age of 16. For children and teenagers, usage is only possible with an orthodontist’s recommendation.

After the main course of treatment, refinement trays may be needed in some cases.
